International Kite Festival

Kite festival is a traditional festival in Thailand. It has been popular for a long time since Sukhothai period and it has become a flying competition during Rattanakosin kingdom. Peviously, it was a competition between The Chula and Pakpao kites; the most two famous traditional Thai kites. Nowadays, there are many countries around the world join this event. Therefore, the “International Kite Festival” has been originated for almost 10 years. It is commonly held from March to April every year because it is the time that the warm southern trade winds are at the best. Moreover, It is a long holiday for Thai people. So it is a good time to attract both local and foreign tourists to attend this event.

In this year (2021), due to COVID-19 pandemic, the festival will be postponed to next year. The sky will be colorful with iconic Thai kites from four regions and more than 30 fancy kites from all over the world. The Highlight of this event is a 35 meters long whale kite that got the Guinness World Records. In addition, the kite exhibition, the traditional Chula and Pak Pao competition, and the kite painting workshop, varieties of food stalls and kite market will be available in this event.

The festival will be held on 8 – 18 April 2022 at Pattaya beach, Chonburi from 11.00 – 17.00. Let’s experience your next summer with the colorful sky in “Pattaya International Kite Festival”. The entry is free.
