Phi Ta Khon

This festival is called Phi Ta Khon.It have in the 15th day of the waxing moon in the 6th lunar month.It is located in Loei in Thailand.It have many activites,such as Vessantorn Inviting Ceremony,The ceremony of surrendering Phra Upakut and Phi Ta Khon Mask Disposal Ceremony.

Phi Ta Khon happened when Phra Vessantara and Mrs. Matsee are leaving the forest back to the city.Many ghosts and many animals mourn their love,so they hide with the villagers to send them both back to the city The word “Phee Tam Khon” or “Phee Ta Kon”  has been called until it became “Phi Ta Khon” as it is today. Everyone will make masks in the shape of ghosts and monsters to wear and join the parade.
