LA TOMOTINA FIESTA

In the East of Spain 30 kilometres (19 mi) from the Mediterranean, in which participants throw tomatoes and get involved in a tomato fight purely for entertainment purposes. Since 1945 it has been held on the last Wednesday of August, during a week of festivities in Buñol. The event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The origins of this festival date back to 1944. During the gigantes y cabzudos parade, there were teenagers arguing and damn, there was a tomato stall near the youths’ hands, so they used it as Weapons to throw at each other until the police had to come to end the tomato war and adjust the damages incurred from this incident. In the following year, the youths are still fighting again as they were last year, but things are different this year, they prepare tomatoes from home and have to struggle with the police again. The controversy, but it was the Elementary Chapter of the famous Tomato Throwing Festival that was held every year.
