Thanksgiving day is a harvest day that was originally a show of gratitude to God. Today Thanksgiving is the only non-religious holiday celebrated in the United States. Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November each year. In 1863, Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday. Americans spend time with their families and eat big meals together. The traditionally popular food is turkey.
